Restorative Pathways (formerly Ruby’s Place) was founded in 1971 in Hayward, California, and is the nation’s first shelter for survivors of domestic violence. What began as a grassroots effort by a group of determined women has grown into a comprehensive support network, dedicated to providing safety, healing, and empowerment to individuals affected by domestic violence, human trafficking, and other forms of trauma. Today, Restorative Pathways remains committed to breaking cycles of violence and creating lasting change—one survivor at a time.
Our agency philosophy is built on having a strong healthy team to provide the best experience for clients in our care. We believe quality work starts with a program that is client-centered and built on trauma-informed care. We have voluntary services coupled with the intentional care of our staff for a holistic approach.
At Restorative Pathways, there’s a place for everyone to make a difference. By joining our team, serving on committees, donating, or volunteering, you help us empower survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking with safe housing, vital resources, and renewed hope. Explore the many ways to get involved and help us transform lives in our community.
Restorative Pathways’ Housing Program is tailored to help homeless survivors of domestic violence or human trafficking with rental subsidies, deposits and/or moving expenses. The goal of the housing program is to ensure a survivor a safe place for their families and an opportunity to reach self-sufficiency.
Youth Services supports youths 12-24 through case management, advocacy, therapy, and residential services. Within services, we offer a safe space to rest, explore and embark on a journey of self-sufficiency and empowerment.
Our multicultural, multi-disciplinary team of dedicated professionals provides one-on-one, customized interventions that support the whole person. Our staff is trained to provide mental health care services that are proven to help those impacted by the after-effects of emotional trauma. The clinical center supports clients with case management and mental health care needs.
At Restorative Pathways, our Community Outreach team takes great pride in giving back and impacting the lives of members of our community with service, case management, and more. We also connect clients to mental health resources, educational and employment assistance, and support with transportation.
R.A.F.T aims to facilitate healing, accountability, and transformation for individuals who have caused harm within their families or communities. We recognize that behind every harmful action lies a complex set of circumstances and emotions that must be addressed if true healing is to occur.
Restorative Pathways has partnered with multiple Bay Area agencies to conduct mobile health check-ins. During these check-ins, our community mobile health advocate will meet with the clients to provide Covid-19 testing and resources, discuss any community resources or linkages they may need, and direct referrals to those needing them.
At Restorative Pathways, we’re here to listen and support you. Whether you have questions about our services, need guidance, or simply want to share your thoughts, our dedicated team is ready to connect with you.
